An attractive sedge for moist soils in part shade to full sun. Beautiful brown seed heads add interest to the fall garden. Can tolerate full sun if soil is moist year-round (such as the margin of a pond); benefits from part shade in drier environments. Dense foliage provides cover for songbirds and small mammals. Birds eat the seeds in the fall. Host plant for several Satyr butterflies. Quart pot.
