This Coreopsis lives up to its name, reaching a spectacular 7′-8′ tall! Blooms mid-summer to early fall, unlike many other Coreopsis which bloom in the spring. Flowers attract butterflies, bees and other pollinators. Birds eat the seeds. Host plant for the Wavy-Lined Emerald Moth (Synchlora aerate), Dimorphic Gray Moth (Tornos scolopacinarius) and the Common Tan Wave Moth (Pleuroprucha insulsaria). Deeply lobed leaves provide interest on their own. Flowers are lightly fragrant. Can be aggressive in disturbed areas with wet soil. Plants grown in dry soils tend to be shorter. Tolerant of heat, humidity and drought. Deadhead to prevent self-seeding.
